There are currently 179 Initiatives in Dibeen under the Project. The purpose of this project is to capitalize on the private sector’s corporate social responsibility strategy to develop the under-served communities in Jordan, whilst at the same time, enhancing JRF’s outreach. Funded by the Munya Specialized Resort, JRF started the implementation of the Project by working with different community sectors, including women.
JRF signed the agreement with the Munya Specialized Resort in April 2009, and the Project included the implementation of the following:
Participatory Strategic Planning: 116 community members and local authorities contributed to this activity.
Institutional Assessment: This covered the 23 CBOs and the two municipalities in the target area.
Capacity building: This covered the 23 CBOs, with the participation of 199 community members, of whom 59 are female.
Income-generating projects: These projects supported five CBOs, and created 18 jobs for people of the local community, of whom 15 are female.
Infrastructure support: 12 projects were implemented for the support of the two municipalities. Projects included, but were not limited to, the provision of lighting and a compressor.
Revolving Loans: Eight CBOs were granted revolving loans portfolios in 2011. The number of beneficiaries has reached 139, of whom 40 are female.
Youth Empowerment: JRF launched the Rapid Results Initiative in Dibeen. Two teams consisting of 29 young people were formed with the aim of implementing youth initiatives by the end of an agreed period. In addition, JRF supported two youth clubs - the Rimon and Al-Kitteh Sport Clubs, which were both renovated, and a knowledge center was built at the Al-Kitteh Club.
