JRF JEDCO Cooperation Agreement Supports 144 Aquaculture, Water Harvesting Projects
AMMAN – A partnership agreement between The Jordan River Foundation (JRF) and the Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO) will help support 144 projects in aquaculture and water harvesting as part of the IFAD-funded “Rural Economic Growth and Employment” project.
Under the agreement, JRF and JEDCO will offer project beneficiaries in ten governorates grants to help establish their agricultural businesses and solutions designed to address climate change, water scarcity and food security challenges.
Grants will be offered through credit and saving groups along with a series of specialized technical training programs in hydroponics and water harvesting, in addition to job placement opportunities in rural areas across Irbid, Mafraq, Jerash, Ajloun, Zarqa, Madaba, Balqa, Karak, Tafila, and Ma'an.
The agreement is part of JRF and JEDCO’s continuous national efforts to address Jordan’s chronic water shortage especially across rural communities and poverty pockets, focusing on vulnerable women and youth. This is realized through the continuous monitoring and assessment of agricultural challenges, value chains, population issues affecting the sector, and international best practices in sustainable development.
