JRF Launches "Green Business Incubator" Project
AMMAN – The Jordan River Foundation (JRF) has announced the launch of the “Creating Sustainable Green Jobs for Refugees and Host Communities through the Green Economy” project. The initiative aims to implement a Green Business Incubation Program to promote the development of Jordan’s green economy.
Targeting local communities and urban Syrian refugees in Amman, Irbid, Mafraq, and Zarqa, the project is funded by the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KICA).
The project will focus on key green projects that merge economic growth with environmental sustainability, thereby creating sustainable green jobs, particularly for vulnerable communities in the targeted governorates. Activities will include training programs designed to enhance green entrepreneurship skills for startups. This initiative aligns with Jordan's efforts to fulfill its climate commitments under the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to climate action.
According to a statement from JRF, the project will run for three years and support around 150 entrepreneurs and startups through comprehensive incubation services over six months. This will include capacity building and intensive training in green entrepreneurship, along with financial grants for innovative projects. Beneficiaries will also receive guidance through individual and group mentoring sessions to enhance their skills and develop sustainable business plans.
JRF continues to support entrepreneurial initiatives under its Community Empowerment Program, especially in rural areas, employing an inclusive methodology that takes into account the socio-economic dynamics of Jordan’s population.
