JRF, UNHCR Empower Over 150 Beneficiaries in Entrepreneurship, Employment Skills
The Jordan River Foundation (JRF) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) concluded the training of 157 local community beneficiaries to help enhance their entrepreneurship and workforce readiness skills.
Conducted under the UNHCR-funded project: "Strengthening Refugee Capacity for Self-Reliance through Access to Livelihood & Financial Inclusion Opportunities”, the training empowered urban refugees and vulnerable Jordanians with the aim of offering sustainable livelihood pathways through vocational training and self-reliance.
Beneficiaries completed a series of technical training sessions provided by 36 service providers partnering with JRF, including Volt Academy, Laval Academy, Luminous Technical University College, Dot Jordan and the Jordan Engineers Association.
Training topics included digital marketing, website design, audio production, metalworking, and translation skills tailored to micro-enterprise beneficiaries. On the other hand, specialized trainings in hybrid vehicle servicing and nail care were offered to beneficiaries of the project’s job placement component.
Targeting more than 660 families, Jordanians and Syrian refugees, across seven governorates; Amman, Irbid, Ajloun, Mafraq, Tafilah, Ma'an, and Aqaba, the JRF-UNHCR project aims to improve the income levels of targeted households by helping them hone basic life and vocational skills for employment and self-employment; providing tailored coaching, guidance, referrals, mentorship, and seed funding.
