109 beneficiaries in Irbid offered grants via IFAD project

IRBID – JRF has signed grant agreements empowering 109 beneficiaries of the IFAD-funded “Rural Economic Growth and Employment” project in Irbid. Implemented by JRF in cooperation with JEDCO and the Government of the Netherlands, the project is designed to offer development and support services for saving and credit groups and associations, which in turn help create sustainable jobs and income generating opportunities for local communities, especially among youth and women, through business mentorship and access to grants.
“Rural communities are often unable to access traditional financial services, challenges faced especially among vulnerable women and youth,” points JRF’s Director General Enaam Barrishi. “As over 20 percent of Jordan’s population rely on agricultural projects for a living, JRF’s role has never been timelier as it continues to offer interventions designed to support and develop saving and credit groups across this core sector,” adds Barrishi.
