IFAD Project Offers Grants to Micro Entrepreneurs via JRF

MADABA – As part of its continuous efforts to empower local communities across the Kingdom through entrepreneurship and workforce readiness, JRF has signed grant agreements supporting 175 micro entrepreneurs under the IFAD-funded “Small-Ruminants Investment and Graduating Households in Transition” project, implemented by JRF in cooperation with the Ministry of  Agriculture. The project aims to irradiate poverty by providing sustainable livelihood support via income-generating projects for Jordanian host communities and Syrian refugees.

The signing ceremony was attended by Minister of Agriculture Khaled Hneifat and JRF’s Director General Enaam Barrishi. "It has never been more important to support micro businesses not only through the facilitation of grants, but also through sustaining and developing these projects, which in turn would leverage Jordan’s agricultural sector, especially given the challenges we are facing due to the pandemic," points Barrishi.

JRF has empowered over 1,170 beneficiaries last year as part of its entrepreneurship support projects, in addition to more than 850 beneficiaries within the foundation’s employment and workforce readiness initiatives.
